Enjoyed our time. Room upgrade was much appreciated. Relaxing time in the spa followed by a fantastic evening meal. Having breakfast in bed finished off our stay in style. Looking forward to going back.
Myself and my 2 friends had an absolutely amazing night at this spa. It was relaxing, the food was good, and the room was gorgeous.
The hotel has a fabulous spa area, one of the best Ive been to - ambient lighting in the pool, a series of heat rooms and an outside heated infinity pool. The main building retains its historic ambience and the cocktail bar area is well used, well stocked and makes a pleasant area to migrate to. There is a nice lounge area located near a roaring log fire where you can relax and the grounds make for a lovely stroll. I was looking forward to the meal here which in paper should have been stunning with the chef patron being backed by awards. This is where it let itself down ... the food was well presented but very disappointing. The restaurant service was slow and the kitchen clearly over run trying to keep pace with demand. The breakfast was no different to anywhere else and was self service. Having had such an excellent breakfast at Raithwaite Estate, Whitby recently, this was hard to take in view of the star rating and how it generally portrays itself. Would I stay here again? Maybe. Does it need to take a look at itself to avoid complacency and up its game. Yes - in spades.
Have just returned from a lovely break here. The spa was fabulous. Food in brasserie was excellent and portions were very generous. Our room was lovely, peaceful and comfortable. Although breakfast was tasty (wonderful eggs and bacon) the majority of it is served buffet style rather than freshly cooked to order which we would have expected. Lovely hotel and will definitely be back.
The place is really lovely, and the staff are all so helpful. The spa is amazing and I love the outside hot tub. breakfast is one of the best I have ever had in a hotel. There is also a wildlife park on the grounds which is well worth a visit.
