I have stayed at the Daffodil twice nice now. It's taken two stays to show me that it is not a good venue for a quiet weekend get away. The place is beautiful, the staff have been pleasant, the food is very good and the spa is excellent. The rooms are also immaculately clean and very comfortable. The problem with the Daffodil is how big it is. There are so many guests. Dinner feels like a time pressured cycle becasue of how hard it is to book a table time. The reason we stayed twice was because the first time we were disturbed over night two nights in a row by noisy guests. Our second stay was complimentary but there was a wedding on the day we stayed which meant that after midnight the wedding guests all poured up in to their rooms and woke us up.... Again.I like the hotel - it's very pretty and well put together but it feels very corporate and to that end I wouldn't stay againOh and also the porridge at breakfast was a salty watery mess.*Update - it's been 3 months and I haven't heard from the hotel

Very attentive staff, nothing too much. Great room and facilities, very clean. High quality food and drink. Highly recommended, we will be back.

The Daffodil is perfect... We had a fantastic room overlook the lake.. The staff in the spa and hotel are amazing and nothing is a problem. The food is excellent. A special mention to Charlie whom went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. We will definitely be back.

Helpful, friendly staff going the extra mile. Clean, modern and comfortable room. Beautiful location. Just a shame the spa/pool does not allow under 16s

Lovely hotel, but a lot of things lacking. My husband and I came for a couple of nights away for our 10th wedding anniversary. First impressions when we walked from the car park into reception to check in were 'wow', amazing views and lovely light, clean reception area. The man on reception asked about our stay and I told him for our anniversary. Not quite sure why he asked given the weak smile and rather insincere congratulations. Our room, 301, looked nice on first glance, but a valance sheet to hide the scruffy bed base, a clean cloth on the window sills and the plucked curtains replaced would of made the room a lot better, small things, but they add up. The bed, however, was very comfortable. There was a leak from the shower cleaning staff clearly ignored every day. We'd booked half board. We expected a limit on our dinner, but we thought we'd have enough in the 'allowance' to be able to have a three course dinner. Not with the 30 allowance! Very disappointed with that limit, especially when the taster menu is advertised every evening for 35pp! Breakfast was delicious, hot and plentiful, a great start to a days walking, the additional charge of (I think it was) 3.50 or thereabouts for the fish options was rather excessive. What we feel let the hotel, in the Lake District, down massively was the starkness of the hotel. As I said, on checking in the reception was lovely, but when it came to walking back through said reception in my muddy walking boots, I didn't think I'd be welcomed! I took them off at the car and walked in wearing just my socks on my feet. The bar, which we didn't use as it didn't look very comfortable), you'd expect a fire and comfy sofas, like I said, it's a hotel in the Lake District! The Daffodil is probably an amazing place for a spa getaway, but it's certainly not a walkers hotel.
